FIRST LEBRON, NOW WADE
First it was LeBron James who left Miami Heat to return to his beloved home Cleveland Cavaliers. Now it’s his best friend Dwayne Wade who leaves Miami to head towards his home Chicago.
OPEN LETTER TO HIS FANS
On a very emotional note, he addressed his Miami Heat fans open letter. He wrote,
This has been an extremely emotional and tough decision to come to. After 13 years, I have decided to embark on a new journey with the Chicago Bulls. This was not an easy decision, but I feel I have made the right choice for myself and my family.
I started my NBA career with the Miami Heat in 2003 and it has been an honor to have played with them and help build a winning franchise with three NBA championships. I look back with pride and amazement at all we have accomplished together. I want to express my gratitude to the Arison family, Pat Riley, Coach Erik Spoelstra, the coaching staff, and the entire Miami Heat organization.”
“From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank the Miami community and especially #HEATNATION for all of their love and support over the years. It has been truly incredible. I am deeply moved and appreciative of the positive messages from my fans expressing that they want what’s best for me and I know they will support my decision. The memories including championship parades and five conference titles are incredible moments we have shared that will always remain close to my heart as I begin the next chapter of my life.”
TALKING ABOUT HIS CHILDHOOD, HE ADDED
“Growing up in Robbins, Ill., I never dreamed that an NBA career could have even been possible and that one day I would wear a Chicago Bulls jersey. Watching the Bulls growing up inspired me at an early age to pursue my dream of becoming a basketball player. My most treasured memories were watching my dad play basketball on the courts of Fermi Elementary School and developing my game at the Blue Island Rec Center. I have never forgotten where I came from and I am thankful to have an opportunity to play for the team that first fueled my love of the game. Many of my family members still live in Chicago and I am excited to return home to a city very close to my heart.”
I look forward to returning to my roots and to what lies ahead.
Much Love and Respect,
Dwyane Wade will be going home to the Chicago Bulls to team up with Rajon Rondo and Jimmy Butler.
BUT WHY CHICAGO? WHY NOT CAVS?
He is a legend to the city, and said the only place he could play other than Miami was back home in Chicago. It’s tough to remember that sports are still a business. But Wade has selflessly given up numerous times for his team.
Dwayne Wade is one of the very best SG to play in the league. He is the glue, the soul, the leader of the Miami Heat championship teams. Without Wades self-sacrifice the Miami Heat do not win championships period. He repeatedly adjusted his contracts and offered a hometown discount as a super-star to the Heat.
With the NBA cap moving up $20million this year and at least $20million in 2017 the Miami Heat offered Wade $20million for two years. To all of us this is amazing, however for his services that number needs to be minimum 150% higher. The Heat tendered a 2nd offer at double the money, but the Heat were not serious about Wade coming back.
Sad to see Wade leave, but it is best for him at this point. He is still a great player and a true gentlemen.
Looks like D. Wade is giving Heat fans a reason to burn jerseys and is headed home to lead the Bulls.
I wonder how Michael Tucker feels about this.
Bosh is retired…
LeBron just won one for Cleveland…
And Dwayne Wade gets homesick and heads to Chicago to be the man.
Him and Jimmy Butler…
The Bulls-Cavs Rivalry just got interesting.
But to Heat fans…
Was resigning Hassan Whiteside and going after KD worth losing the franchise?
This is a shocker! Makes the Bulls much better.
Are they a championship contender? Nope.
Does it help them long term? Nope.
Are they more interesting now? For sure!
You like this move?
This is sad!
I think the Miami Heat should do whatever it takes to keep Wade. He dedicated so many years to Miami Heat. He took a pay cut to help the team bring on more players. You can’t get a better dedicated player than that.
